Author's Statement:
When I stumbled upon Alamitos Bay many years ago, I felt I had found paradise.  It is a wonderland filled with a great selection of leisure time activities.   The locals, of which I am one now, would like it to remain one of Southern California's best kept secrets.   I wrote the book only because this treasure and the happiness it brings should multiply when shared with those with similar values.  I share portions of one chapter of the book here so that you too can visit the "city" of Alamitos Bay, although virtually.   Enjoy, Eloisa

Chapter 4:   Sightseeing     (Selected Abstracts for this Web version)

The Alamitos Bay area of Southern California is a three-mile square area with a lot to offer the sightseer.   The area first attracted developers in early 1900s, and pieces of history still abound.   These waterfront communities offer much more than the beach and water views.

Second Street in Belmont Shore
Definitely the place to be seen.   Try people watching while sipping coffee or a juice drink at one of the many sidewalk restaurants, or shopping for the trendiest offerings from quaint shops to national retailers.

The Canals in Naples Islands
A picturesque wonderland of winding canals and bridges over them.   The canals are very inviting, may it be for a peaceful stroll on the sidewalks along the seawall, or for a slow kayak trip along the waterways of Naples.

The Wooden Boardwalk on The Peninsula
Give a new meaning to your envigorating early morning jog. Try it on the Peninsula's wooden boardwalk and enjoy sandy beach views, fresh ocean breezes, and the easy footing of the mile-long path of wood planks.

The Seal Beach Pier
Watch the high surf and the surfers at the Seal Beach Pier, or join in on the water fun with your surfboard, boogie board, longboard, or simply with your swimwear.   Stay dry options also include fishing from this long pier.
