Effective organizational control: A framework, applications, and implications

Abstract: A framework for understanding the nature, role, functioning, design, and effects of organizational control systems is presented.  The framework represents a model of control which can be used to make this process more visible in organizations.  The practical implications of the model are illustrated, and the model's implications for corporate and human resource management are discussed.
