Good Reading

With not too much time to read, I depend on word of mouth before I indulge in a book. "Always a good bet" are my
favorites and serve as reference texts as well.

Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer.

Many of Krakauer's climbing companions die on this expedition up Mt. Everest. The dilemma for every climber (and negotiator too) is that in order to succeed you must be extremely driven, but if you're too driven you're likely to die. This is more a story of bad judgment than bad luck.
Civil Action by Jonathan Harr.

Lawyer Jan Schlichtmann catches a tiger by the tail as he gets in over his head in his nine-year pursuit of Beatrice Foods and W.R. Grace Co. for polluting the drinking water in Woburn, Massachusetts.
