favorites and serve as reference texts as well.

Krakauer.
Many
of Krakauer's climbing companions die on this expedition up Mt. Everest.
The dilemma for every climber (and negotiator too) is that in order to
succeed you must be extremely driven, but if you're too driven you're likely
to die. This is more a story of bad judgment than bad luck.
